mwcqTheyyam (mwcgTeyyam, Theyam, Theyyattam) è una forma rituale di mwcwdanza popolare di adorazione del mwdaKerala e mwdqKarnataka, in mwdgIndia.

Il mweaTheyyam consisteva in diverse mweqtradizioni, mwegrituali e mwewcostumi millenari. Gli artisti di mwfaTheyyam appartengono alla comunità aborigena delle caste inferiori del Kerala e hanno una posizione importante nel mwfqTheyyam. Le persone di questi distretti considerano lo mwfgTheyyam stesso come un canale verso un mwfwdio e quindi cercano benedizioni dal mwgaTheyyam.

Ci sono circa 456 tipi di mwggTheyyam; solitamente il rituale è eseguito dai maschi, eccetto il mwgwDevakoothu theyyam, l'unico rituale Theyyam eseguito dalle donnecite-ref-1[1] nel tempio di Kumbabad Kulamcite-ref-auto1-2-0[2].

In Kerala, il mwjqTheyyam viene eseguito prevalentemente nella regione del Nord Malabar (negli attuali distretti di mwjwKasaragod, mwkaKannur, mwkqWayanad e mwkgKozhikode, nel mwkwVadakara e mwlaQuilandy). Un'usanza simile è seguita nella regione mwlqMangalore del vicino mwlgKarnataka, conosciuta come Bhuta Kola.
